Ch ch ch Changes!

Look out Windy City, Brett and I are blowing in!

The big news is I have been offered and accepted a job at Kline Creek Farm in Winfield, Illinois, which means that Brett and I are going to be moving west in another few weeks. The timing is wonderful in some ways (we'll be about 13 hours closer to the wedding ceremony come August and I'll be much closer to my relatives which will be good for planning purposes) and in someways is pretty darn lousy. We'll miss the HoF inductions by a couple weeks, we'll have less than three weeks to settle before the wedding weekend. All the wedding stuff is going to have to get boxed up separately and well labeled so that I can get to it without unpacking everything.

That being said, I think i need to go get cracking on some packing planning. No way are we going to be as disorganized as the last move. There's no time or energy for crappy packing!

Farmers Market

Went to the Farmer's Market today and picked up a beautiful spring bouquet. I've decided that we want to go with local and farmer's market flowers for the wedding. Some will hopefully come from my Aunt's yard, but my excellent friend Katie has managed to find a farmer's market vendor who will assemble our held flowers for us. I can't wait to see what happens, and I love that it will be a surprise on the day.

If it looks anything like the flowers I got today, I will be a very very happy bride.

Did I mention how adorable the shower in CH was? My Mom and Aunt went to town with their creative girly selves. They made little heart shaped sugar cookies in lots of sizes and strawberry rhubarb jelly with rhubarb from my Great Grandma Steben's rhubarb plant.

Brett's folks came all the way from Iowa just for the party and then turned around and went home. Seriously, how cool is that! Thanks everyone for making the day so special.

Slammed

Hi everyone.

So, it's been quiet on the blog, which either corresponds to a period of super boredom in Real Life, or a period of insane business. In this case, it is the latter.

In the last month I have:
Applied for a new job

Been running videoconferences all over the place at my current (big girl) job.

Tread a fine line between being emotionally disconnected from life in Cooperstown while still trying to be involved in life in Cooperstown. (e.g. packing boxes for a longed for move while cultivating a new relationship with a local spinning guild.)

Travelled 2,684 miles across the country by car.

Made stops on the journey at Niagra Falls, Clarendon Hills, Des Moines, Atlantic, and Aurora to get soaking wet, be showered with presents, fumble a catering meeting, eat some tasty tacos, be showered some more, introduce families, attend a beautiful wedding, check out our wedding venue, touchdown the catering meeting, and interview for previously mentioned job.

Celebrated the one year mark in my engagement to Brett.

Found a new wedding website (mywedding.com/brettandkategarrett) that is easier to write and remember.

Wrote and mailed thank you cards for showers.

Assembled and sent out wedding invitations. And if you think that Brett didn't assemble every single invitation by hand or that I didn't break out the calligraphy on every single envelope, well, you would be mistaken.

Got sick.

As if I couldn't see that one coming. So today I'm staying home from work and trying to relax. I've been sleeping for most of the day and am trying hard to feel better. I'll try to catch you up with some pictures soon.
